We have aligned the incentives of all stakeholders in society to drive actions that create positive outcomes for both people and planet.

True planetary impact is only possible with new systems, as the current ones have led us to this point.

Owned by nature

With your help the Green Standard system will make nature the world’s largest landowner.

Our legal structure, Constitution and members are a triple lock for protecting nature and ensuring land is used for good, forever.

Nature is the beneficiary

Legal obligation for all held land to benefit and serve nature.

Constitution

Codifies limitations on land-use and the rights of nature.

Members

Governance over land, leadership and the Constitution.

GST economy

The GST economic model places nature and local communities at its centre.

DAO land is managed by community Land Stewards who then monetise the restoration and protection of nature on that land.

These land project will provide real world utility for GST as members can vote for Stewards willing to accept GST and/or provide discounted services to our members.

Value for all

Legal structure

We have taken elements of charity, business and non-central governance to create a new system. All wrapped in one legal structure designed to restore nature.

  • Not-for-profit; and

  • Capped-profit; with

  • Decentralised governance

For a deeper understanding of the legal structure of GST DAO, please read our Constitution and White Paper (link in the footer).

A subsidiary of the foundation that mints and distributes GST on behalf of the foundation.

DAO members

Token holders and minters of GST who have governance rights of GST DAO.

Operating company

The capped-profit company contracted to the foundation to operate off-chain activities.

Systemic outputs

Conservation

Rewilding ecosystems

Did you know? Nearly one million species face extinction due to human activity and that a global rewilding effort can help reverse this crisis.

  • Restoring 15% of land could avoid 60% of expected extinctions.

  • All while sequestering 30% of the total increase in atmospheric CO2 since the Industrial Revolution.

Reforestation

Did you know? Deforestation is responsible for about 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions and destroys the natural habitat of millions of species.

  • Reforesting 350 million hectares of degraded land could sequester up to 1.7 gigatons of CO2 equivalent annually.

  • Reforestation restores soil health, increases rainfall, and provides habitat for endangered species.

Regenerative agriculture

Did you know? Conventional agriculture is a major contributor to climate change, but regenerative practices can turn farms into carbon sinks.

  • Transitioning to regenerative agriculture could sequester up to 10% of annual CO2 emissions.

  • These practices improve soil health, water retention, and farm resilience.

Carbon sequestration

Did you know? The world needs to sequester 2.5–3 gigatons of CO2 per year by 2030 to avoid catastrophic climate change.

  • Natural climate solutions like reforestation can provide over 30% of the needed CO2 reductions.

  • More biodiverse ecosystems are better equipped to deal with natural disasters like wildfires, which makes for effective nature-based carbon sinks.

Social

Wealth gap reduction

Did you know? The world’s richest 1% have more than double the wealth of the next 6.9 billion people.

  • Through equitable land stewardship programs, marginalised communities can gain access to resources and economic opportunities, thereby reducing the wealth gap.

  • Over 2 billion people are currently “unbanked” and even more are not part of the asset-class, living in a cash economy. We can reduce the wealth gap, by bringing millions into the banked, asset-class with GST.

Local economic prosperity

Did you know? Investments in conservation and reforestation can generate sustainable local jobs with a fair income.

  • For every $1 million invested in restoration activities, an estimated 15-40 permanent local jobs are created.

  • We take a community approach to land stewardship, ensuring all activities are beneficial to local people. Restoration projects often lead to the development of sustainable small businesses, boosting local economies.

Indigenous landback movements

Did you know? Indigenous peoples manage or have tenure rights over at least 38 million square kilometres of land, which contains 80% of the world’s biodiversity.

  • Studies show that indigenous-managed lands have significantly better environmental outcomes.

  • Our DAO can support the physical return of land to indigenous people.

Advancing a circular economy

Did you know? The linear “take, make, dispose” model is the root of many environmental issues.

  • Shifting to a circular economy could unlock $4.5 trillion in economic growth worldwide by 2030.

  • GST DAO aims to play a part in this transformation, as our currency, GST is circular. It can be reused in perpetuity, it produces no waste and importantly, GST regenerates our planet.

Member governance

Land selection

DAO members can approve or veto all land acquisitions.

Land stewardship
