The “Special Purpose” of GST DAO is detailed in full in our Constitution, here we will include some key components of that special purpose and the rationale behind it.
GST DAO Constitution – Special Purpose:
“(i) to hold and use DAO Assets for the benefit of nature, making nature the world’s largest landowner (effectively, functionally or legally); and
(ii) to protect our natural world for future generations, with a commitment to fostering sustainable human and economic development that is in harmony with ecological health.
The Special Purpose may include undertaking activities such as regenerating ecosystems, rewilding nature, supporting regenerative agriculture, and sequestering atmospheric carbon, while taking a community-driven approach to land stewardship.
GST DAO will function so that all actions taken by its administrators, executors and members must serve the “Special Purpose”.”
The remainder of the special purpose section of our Constitution sets out principles that are to be considered when applying the special purpose to any DAO or DAO affiliated activities or decisions. The rights of nature, how land should be used and treated, the requirements of community equity and sustainable economic development as well as certain prohibited actions.
Within our structure the special purpose and Constitution will be binding on any administrative representative or contracted partner of the DAO. This is in place to ensure land is used and will always be used to protect our natural world.
The Constitution has been designed to create a system where nature owns land.
